I played guitar in bands for decades but really couldn't sing at all. Bandmates would side-eye me and say "please, don't" when I would sing backups. After working with Guy, I got to a place where I was able to front my own project and hear "wow, I didn't know you could sing, too". Guy takes you where you are and gets you to where you want to be. If you’ve wanted to learn to sing but have worried that you wont be able to learn or that lessons will be upsetting or uncomfortable you really need to work with Guy Monroe. Under his expert tutelage I’ve gone from someone who always wanted to sing but knew that though sometimes I sounded really good there were others when I really didn’t. I had become so self-conscious that I couldn’t even try to make a sound in front of another person unless it was at church where my voice would be hidden by others. Guy’s extremely knowledgeable guidance is always given in a positive and supportive manner that gets great results. I have gone from someone who had no confidence and had never learned how to sing to someone who can confidently state that I can and do sing very well. I am now not only learning to sing with a duet partner who plays the guitar, but am, at the age of 73, learning with Guy how to accompany myself on the piano… which I have never played before. I'm in my '70s and since I was young I got a message from a parent that I couldn't sing and couldn't be on key. So I never tried to learn how to sing. Guy is such an incredible teacher that he showed me that what I thought was impossible, is possible. He showed me how I can discover the ability to recognize being on key and use and control my voice in ways I never thought I could. He gave me confidence that I could learn how to sing if I wanted to make that a goal. Simply turning around this feeling about my voice and what is possible with it makes me feel wonderful and with a new joy in my life.

I had a really wonderful time learning to sing with Guy in his home studio. Guy doesn’t just teach you to sing, he teaches you how to enjoy performing too. It was a free class but I paid anyway, because of how much I enjoyed my time.

Guy is one of the best teachers I've ever had in any field, and I've had a lot. This is not an exaggeration. Not only am I a much better singer after having worked with him for the past 6 months, the work it took to get where I am now has been interesting, challenging, and effective.
